Clinic will be repeated on Saturday, July 24, 2019. 

 

Our spring 2019 team's focus is to support the ministry of Whosoever Gospel Mission in Philadelphia by providing quality eye care services to homeless men in their resident program.

Team members will support GFV optometrists by registering patients, taking medical history and vital signs, visual acuity testing, conducting auto refraction & optical imaging, dispensing readers and other similar services.

Our team is open to individuals with a desire to serve and make a difference in the lives of others. No medical background or experience necessary. Mandatory training will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019, 2-6 PM. Individual support goal for this team is $99. Sample support letters will be provided. 

 

The team will be selected after the February 2, 2019 application deadline and will be reviewed on a first come first served basis, however, priority will be given to optometrists, opticians and individuals with a medical background.

GFV Fall 2019 Team

Clarkston, GA

September 14-22, 2019

Our Clarkston team partners with Envision Atlanta to support their work by providing quality optometric care to the refugee community in Clarkston, GA.

Team members will support GFV optometrists by registering patients, taking medical history and vital signs, visual acuity testing, conducting auto refraction & optical imaging, dispensing readers and other similar services.

Our team is open to individuals with a desire to serve and make a difference in the lives of others. No medical background or experience is necessary. Mandatory training will be held Friday, August 2 (PM) - Sunday, August 4, 2019.

Team members are required to obtain and provide copies of their state clearances (state Police, FBI Fingerprinting & Child Abuse History Clearance).

Please note the following for this team:

  • 12+ hour days are typical.

  • Team lunches and dinners are not scheduled. Team members take breaks as needed for lunch and dinner.

  • Attendance at Training and Orientation Weekend Retreat is mandatory.

We are currently accepting volunteer applications (skilled and unskilled) and donations for this project. Individual support target to be raised is $1,900. Sample support letters and instructions will be provided.
